I also think it's good practice for setting voice, tone, and action in one quick burst. Comes in handy when writing opening lines for longer pieces of fiction.
These are all really great, Meg. However, “Freedom from Fear” is an incredibly powerful piece of writing about a sad truth that so many people still refuse to accept
I wonder if it's a refusal to accept or just an inability to understand. This is why stretching our empathy muscles is so important. And why I try to provide opportunities for readers to do that through my stories. 🙂
Because I posted them on Justin's Substack. 💜You should subscribe. His stuff is really good. And I show up there a couple times a month to write 50-word stories.
Lovely bite size scenes. Thanks for sharing them!
Thank you for reading!
I've done some of the Fifties by the Fire stories, and I will do more.
My initial reaction was that it was kind of a pointless exercise. But I find that it coaxes me to be precise and to make very word count.
Precisely!

Thanks so much for the shoutout, Meg! It was a joy rereading some of your “fifties” here. You’ve amassed quite a beautiful (and diverse) collection!
See you Friday? 🔥
I'll be there with firecrackers on!
Rich stuff, without the fluff
Cheers, Mark!
Thanks for reading.
How did I miss these before?

Such thematic variety! Each one a little jewel. Thanks for putting them all together, Meg.
I just love the 50s scene. It's a great way for me to feel creatively accomplished in a big way with a very teeny offering. 💜
Yes, me too. Happy holidays to you and to all those who love you out there wherever you are!
That last one 🤌🏻
Cheers, Amber!
Loved these. Freedom from Fear was so poignant.
Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed them and found a favorite. 🥂
