I respect your caution, friend, though if I can prove to the certified MEN of the world that they need love stories, too, I'll have accomplished an important mission. All ashore that's going ashore!
OK, I'll consider going out over the waters with you. I have a pretty soft heart in spite of my manly manliness. Let's hope the wind is blowing in the right direction.
Yay! I finally gave in to the romance when a writer friend pointed out how obviously more engaged I was with those parts of my stories. Welcome to the club. 🥰
Yay!! YES. Without a romantic hook, is it even a STORY???? 😂
Speaking of "the club," we should connect more in 2025. Seeing as how we both write romance and live in the same state. 😁Are you part of any in person writing or book groups that focus on romance stuff? If not ... wanna start one maybe? At the very least maybe we could do a Substack collab someday. I'll pester you again after the holidays. In the meantime, I just re-subscribed to your stack. My only excuse for ever pausing my subscription was email overwhelm and a genetic defect that prevents me from keeping up with serialized fiction on the internet. I do better with paperbacks ... even ebooks!
This is great! Congrats for really honing in on your passion and focus and determining what that looks like going forward. We can never have too many love stories! (Also, lolz on the QR biz cards - I've got a couple half-empty boxes gathering dust on my shelves with codes pointing to several online projects as well).
Thanks, Nikolas! Looking forward to diving into this subject very much!
And this is my SECOND batch of unused business cards. The first batch I cheaped out so much I was embarrassed by them and truthfully, I just don't have that many opportunities to HAND OUT business cards as someone who writes at home all day. 😂 Go figure. And I lied. This is my THIRD batch of business cards. 🤦🏼♀️
What fun! While I don't tend to read straight romance, I also love when there is a bit of romance in any story I read, watch, etc. Have you ever checked out this substsack? I love the intellectual rigor of her analysis of all things Austen, and I think that her readers might be interested in your new endeavor. https://austenconnection.substack.com
I'm the same way! It's why I hesitate to call myself a Romance Writer, because I don't always believe Love Story and Romance are the same thing. Something I'll have to write about for the The Romantic. 😊 Thanks for introducing me to the Austen Connection. I'll definitely be looking to make such "connections" in the New Year. 🥂
Yeah. I figure if I join 'em, maybe I can beat 'em. If I can find a way to turn the "romance" genre on its head, I'll have done my job. 😊 Step One: Learn ALL the rules. Step Two: Break them! 💕
As a certified man, I'm a little hesitant to jump in with both feet. But I'm willing to watch from the shore.

Haha, I know the feeling! But we'll keep creating - and keep printing biz cards to prove it ;)

🤢 Don't exactly love romance, but you know I'm not going anywhere. 😁💖
Really excited that your navel gazing has given you inspiration to take on the trillion dollar romance industry. 👏🥳
