Thank you, friend. I had a lot of help, but for optics I'll take full credit. That's what my business coach would advise.
I'll toast to genre fusion. 🥂 The world could use more dark romantic sci-fi comedies, IMO.
Cheese with sass could be my brand, although I prefer to say my work is "snarkhearted." I really can't deliver full sentimentality without grinding a little pepper into it. And vice versa.
Thank you, Jeannie! Yours was one of the first Substacks I discovered, and it's been wonderful keeping in touch with you across this big wide internet universe. 💜🥂💫
Hooray! You worked hard to get these results, Meg. Your video confirms that - it was so inspiring! Another example of realizing dreams through concerted effort. I follow a handful of writers on Substack, but the only archive I continually sift through is Stock Fiction. I don't want to miss anything. Here's to another brilliant year!
Thank you, Sharron. It takes one hard worker to know one! I'm so glad we found each other - I have to credit Justin D's Fifties by the Fire for that stroke of serendipity. Your support and appreciation for my work means the world to me! More good times to come!
Meg, any time! I love giving advice and have also learned to let go the idea that anyone will take it! Obviously the fact that you are such a wonderful writer, have been building an audience here, and have novels actually written, made me think you were a prime candidate to at least give self-publishing a try. And, I have learned how to do it with minimal expense. So, would love to connect, phone, zoom, email, whatever works best for you.
Happy anniversary!! An amazing accomplishment of diligence and vulnerability and persistence -- looking forward to being a reader for many more years to come.
Thank you, Kara! You were my first subscription on Substack and remain one of my favorites! Your daily boosts of wisdom and inspiration have gotten me out of many a writer's rut this year. Thank you for being here and for doing what you do!
A video?!? Seriously, Meg, stop raising the bar. I'm old and can't jump that high anymore. Congratulations on an amazing year. I'm so happy to have met you, and I'm especially honored that you're the winner of our community's very first Lunar. I can't wait to read all of your amazing short stories this next year and beyond!
I am a raiser of bars. A setter of curves. A maker of criers.
Deal with it, Brian. 😜
Thanks for all your support this year, and for encouraging me to scratch my speculative fiction itch. Expect more Lunar Award worthy tales in Year Two.
.. quite inspirational & truly amazing accomplishment..! I’d visited before but the video today.. caught me right away.. I knew in about 5 seconds I was really going to enjoy this immensely.. fine fine work.. & i’m a tough crowd.. and lover of diverse multimedia plus it’s components in their own right.. I’ll have to catch up re your photo background .. and other media backgrounds .. and ouch re the baseball knockout ! 🦎🏴☠️
Thank you, Thomas, and welcome back! Just to be certain we're starting off on honest footing, the photographs I use to inspire my stories aren't mine! They're free use stock photos! I didn't credit their sources in the video, but you'll find them credited in the original story posts. As for multimedia, I've only dabbled thus far, but hope to add more of these storytelling devices in year two, including voiceovers, podcasts, and more films. Here's one I did a while back for a sci-fi story I wrote that just demanded to be rendered on screen.
Eclecticism is really the name of the game here. I'm all over the map as far as genre goes, so as long as you're up for adventure, Stock Fiction is for you. 🙂 Thank you so much for giving it a whirl.
Very nice.. I’ll show both vids to my son.. he’s in the biz.. Commercial Editor / Top Agency.. my niece, a writer.. will appreciate as well ! she’s done several charming videos that stunned me with their exceptional balance, polish .. & intent to .. well CHARM !
She too used stock imagery, found accent bits, great layout / design & a truly crafty soundtrack. I assume she’ll surface on substack soonly.. as she & my big sister have discussed this
Congratulations Meg! This is a very special place on the internet! Thank you!
Thank YOU for being here!
Kudos, Meg! I enjoy your writing very much.
Cheers, James! Happy to have you aboard.
Your one year video made me cry.
That could be the COVID talking. Although I cried while I was making it, so it's probably genetic. 😏
Congrats on Year One! About to celebrate that myself next month. Looking forward to reading more of your stuff in the coming year!
Thank you, Andrei! And congrats on your upcoming Substackiversary.
Congrats on an incredible first year!
Here's to more satire-infused romance and YA-infused science fiction in year two. ;-)
Also, great video. You achieved a perfect cheese-to-sass ratio.

No doubt! Bring it on!
Loved the video. Love that you have found the joy in writing. Here's to another great year!
Thank you, Mary! 🥂I'm looking forward to the year ahead and the many opportunities that await.
One of these days, I'll be knocking on your email door to talk self-publishing with you. Your writer journey inspires and intrigues me immensely.

Hell yes to a great first year! Congrats Meg! Here’s to more big swings!
Hell yes, indeed! Here's to me earning the nickname -The Big Swinger - by October 2024. 😜
