Love love LOVE this. The ‘10 years from now’ question. A good one.

I take it that means you're mulling over your answer? 😊💜

Thanks for joining us, B. 🥂

The problem with being an old fella, who wants to think about 10 years from now!

Expand full comment

That's fair. 😊You've reached the enlightenment stage. I expect you have an easier time living in the moment than us middle-aged hooligans do. 💜

Relishing every moment of the life we’ve manoeuvred ourselves into.

Imagine one day when Augusta, Barrie & Jojo & Meg are sitting at a table drinking wine. Now that's a 10 years from now I can easily abide

I'm there.

My very, very green place is already picked out ... and it's a mere train ride from you all's home turf. See you in 10.

Not hard to imagine at all!

I think maybe 10 years from now we will all still be young adults, more walled in by experience maybe but still YA down deep.

This has been really enjoyable. I love you both! As for where I see myself in ten years, recent experience has taught me not to have strict plans, as life can, and will, surprise you in a myriad ways. But I see myself still writing here, likely with a bunch more lit mag publication credits under my belt, having written (and maybe even published) at least one book, still married and taking care of our cat, finally being able to supplement my salary with money earned from writing, and much more relaxed and at peace with myself. Truthfully, if I can just keep doing the things I’m already doing, that will make me very happy.

I'm with you, Andrei. I'm a planner but I try not to overindulge in "what could be" scenarios, unless of course I'm filing them under the "fantasy" genre in which case I will INDULGE eagerly and often. 😉I won't spoil my next podcast for you (hoping you'll have a listen) but my guest and I talk a bit about our writing and how it fits into our current lives. I've recently turned a corner (or over a new leaf) with regard to how I'm looking at all of this. My new approach is (so far) doing a LOT for my happiness levels. So, here's to finding the right balance of peace and prosperity, for both of us! 🥂

I dig this vision. And of course intentionality is the key to any sustained success, especially when it comes to writing. It's a daily battle to be prepared to sit down and do the work, but Substack has been such a motivator and inspiration to connect with real-life humans on the Internet, which can often feel more than not like a very alienating space.

Keep on keeping on. And thanks for the kind words

This! Too many quotes to mention. I admire both of your visions that will come true. I know it.

I highly recommend having tykes but also know couples who parent their animals, travel and have enriching, fulfilling lives.

It surely is one of the most fulfilling experiences a human can have, if not the most. Traveling the world, to your point, is another one. Not that you can't do both. Only time shall tell, but regardless we'll be writing and taking photographs all along the way.

My sincere hope is that I can get my professional affairs in order so that when the space opens up for my hubby and I to travel broadly in 15 or so years, we'll actually be able to afford to do it! Fingers crossed I get discovered in the short term. 😉

Ooooh. This is going to spark my own post. Lurved the visuals from both of you. Handwritten letters. What a concept, right? I miss the whole Pen Pals thing we did as kids.

Thanks for reading, Ororo. I miss PenPals, too! Everything is much too fast and fleeting now. What's the rush? I say.
