Looking forward to seeing what you cook up for the Field Research/Stock Fiction crossover event of the century.

YESSSS!!! I'm looking forward to seeing that, too.

Don't be surprised if my next piece of fiction is about a character with debilitating performance anxiety. 😕😉

Is there a Lunar Awards for ... whatever genre this is that you typically write in? I don’t know what to call it. I like the evocative nature of it. I don’t feel things the way your characters do, not quite, but I your stories always point to something I feel in a way that’s thought-provoking.

They'll call it the Meg Oolders Prize For Evocative Fiction (MOPFEF), and it won't exist until I'm dead. In the meantime, thanks for being willing to "feel" this kind of writing with your thoughts, Tom. You are the very epitome of a good faith reader. 💛

OK, so I'm one of the 96%, dammit.

What other unbelievably beautiful pieces have you been hiding from me all these years?

I love it when truth and my reality come through in a story I'm writing and nobody notices. It's sort of like a secret tee-hee-hee moment, but appreciated as a part of the fiction. It allows us to share something personal without sharing something personal.

Also, sci-fi romcom. Meg, you're the best one to pull that off and I look forward to it.

From one "Luney" creator to a "Luney" winner. 😂

Thanks, Brian! Sadly, we've both just outed ourselves and our respective "tee-hee-hee" truth-in-fiction practices. Now everyone will know what we're up to!

Hope you don't mind I gave your award a cutesy nickname.

I don't mind at all 😁 We'll just have to be sneakier with our truth-in-fiction.

“It’s not that it stops hurting / it’s not that it goes away / it’s not that I stop seeing your car on the road with strangers behind the wheel / it’s not that hearing a song we used to sing doesn’t remind me how we used to feel / I just change the station / I just change my mood / i pick up a different book / I don’t eat those foods we used to eat together and I don’t drink those wines / I’m not pretending we didn’t happen / but you got your life now so I got to get on with mine / It’s not that it stops hurting / it’s not that it goes away”

A power, melancholy read today! After the first read through, I had to reread it again right away. I wasn’t ready to let it go

Oh. I liked power melancholy. I thought it sounded like power ballad. 😂

"You’ve lost people. You’ve let them go, once and for all, only to discover that letting go is impossible." " Up and out of the dark and into the roar of her spirit, the quiet of her mind, the charge of her heart against mine." Such a sad thing, yet he still has hope hidden somewhere., however delusional. This piece is very moving, Meg. And presenting it cold was absolutely imperative. Here is a one-minute story from my archive - a similar theme to yours, but in reverse. You might like it. https://sharronbassano.substack.com/p/vanished

Damn, Meg! Making me tear up over here like that...you and Sherman Alexie are killing me today. 😅

This is such a beautifully written and moving piece. Thank you for sharing it with us!

What a gem of a story!

Completely agree, fiction has a power that non-fiction doesn’t. Not everyone will ‘get it’ and that’s okay.

Thank you so much for reading. The satisfaction for me always comes from getting the truthful stuff in there, even if it's surrounded by made-up stuff. Then ideally, the made-up stuff provides some entertainment, even for those the truthful stuff doesn't resonate with. 🙂
