Love, this Meg! so glad you’re starting this series and putting yourself out there. Also, looking forward to the next installment of Home Raker on Saturday.
Thanks, Ben! Your "In The Works" series helped nudge me in this direction. I'm not sure if I'd be as comfortable just talking into the camera, the way you do, without someone on the other side. But this was a good way to wade in. :-)
Home Raker, yes, ACK! I feel committed now. Which is kind of terrifying. 😂
Whether it’s helpful or not, I feel a little bit queasy and gross every time I have to do it. In the beginning, I was really talking to myself, but now I imagine I’m talking to friends like you, and it doesn’t feel as bad. For me, the key has been having a good outline and knowing the points I want to make, but definitely not reading from a script. That kind of ruins it.
Looking forward to more Raking this weekend. Have you historically read a lot of murder mysteries? I haven't, but there's definitely genre elements to consider, both from the "here's how to craft a great mystery" sense and also the "here are tropes that would be great to subvert" sense. Curious to see where you take the story.
I haven't READ a lot, but I've watched a lot. As a consumer of those stories, I feel like many of the tropes are already ingrained in my subconscious. I also used to perform a lot of murder mystery dinner theater, which is like the lowest common denominator of the genre but offers many of the camp/satirical elements that I'm leaning into. TBH, I'm a little out of my depth with this one, which is why I want to attempt it. She says, as the words "what were you thinking?" are tattooed into her forearm. Glad to have you along for the ride.
Oooh sounds very scientific. Can’t wait for more! 😁
Thanks, Sister friend. 💜🙂

Every writer's out of their depth on every project. Just have fun with it.
