Can I tell you how much I enjoyed this?!? Yes, yes, I can, and not just because you showed my book. I completely get where you're at in your journey because I'm circling back to a similar trajectory. Having a secondary purpose like your floral design job can be extremely motivating and inspiring if you enjoy doing it. That allows us to experience life from a different perspective that is fulfilling and then those energies can be directed at writing. I'm unofficially training for a half-marathon, which is providing a similar motivation. I need the pursuit of the goal to drive me forward.

The other area where we seem to be converging is on querying. I'm not querying for an agent or novel, but I'm going to start sending out short stories again for consideration. I'll still write for Future Thief and submit on the side. It's going to slow my publication to Substack regarding fiction, but that's okay. Like you mentioned, it's not really a money thing, but getting the satisfaction from finding a wide audience of readers who enjoy your work. Let's face it, there is a validation and satisfaction that comes from seeing our work in other printed publications. It would be cool for us to add that to our list of accomplishments, and I await your good news on that front. 😁

Lastly, I'm looking forward to your "podcast". I think Justin and Jordan were the perfect choices.

Thank you, Brian!

I'm two days into the new job and it's definitely been an adjustment, and not just because I'm suddenly on my feet for 8 hours instead of in front of my computer. 😊 Once the "job" becomes familiar I'm sure it will provide lots of motivation for filling my creative time with new creations.

I've considered trying to submit my shorter pieces elsewhere, too. But I get so overwhelmed by the NUMBER of places there are to submit, and not really knowing one from the other in terms of reach or notoriety, etc. Usually, I just wait around for my writing friends to go, "hey, this place is excepting submissions for [blank] stories. I think you should submit your story [blank] for consideration. I like when my people vet things for me. 😁

Episode 1 of the podcast is scheduled to go out this Sunday! Stay tuned!

Loved this video. You are adorbs. And you’re in NH! Hubby and I would love to move there. Our kids are in Boston but dang it’s pricey in MA.

I wish I knew a lit agent.

Will you be interviewing Dr. Jordan Peterson or is there another JP I don’t know about?

My siblings live in the Boston area. It's about an hour from where I live. Do you visit your kids often? Maybe someday we could meet up for a cup of coffee and a chat while you're in the vicinity. 🙂

I wish I knew a lit agent, too! Or was married to one. 😂

Jordan E. (or J.E.) Petersen. The "EN" at the end of Petersen is very important. He's fabulous and one of my oldest friends on Substack, which means I've known him a little over a year. 💜 https://thedispatches.substack.com/

I loved listening to this, Meg! I was laughing along with you throughout. Your animations and little touches were perfect, too. And lastly, thanks for mentioning me. 😊

Thanks Justin! Anytime I make something like this there's always the worry that NO ONE will watch it. I do put quite a bit of work into the "special effects", so thank you for appreciating them. 😊 And I felt like a dope I didn't pull your actual book off my shelf to hold up with the others. It's so teeny I think my eye just missed it when I was scanning for "books my friends wrote." 😁
