Having wiped my own eyes, now it's time to tell you how great that video was. I keep being so impressed by your honesty and willingness to work on changing your story. About 15 years ago I discovered that the "narrative" I had developed for my life was in many ways a false one, and while it had worked for me, it had also done a lot to get me into trouble. Changing that narrative is one of the important factors in my decision to self-publish in 2009, and has had a lot to do with my success in my writing journey (as well as improving so many other aspects of my life.) Needless to say when you shared your new mantra is when I started to get misty eyed myself. Really looking forward to watching you on your journey. And so much envy on my part about the graphics you used to make the video not be simply a talking head!!!!
Thank you for this lovely comment, Mary Lou. I'm doing my best to view this stage of my journey as a metamorphosis - one I don't want to sabotage by being stubborn and impatient (I am often both). I know it will be worth it in the end. But growing pains suck. I don't care how old you are when you have them. 😉
Thank you for your support and for being a glowing example of what's possible when we're brave/wise enough to forge our own paths. 💜
Thank you, dear. You are kind, funny, generous, fabulous. 🥰
Adding the tech stuff is outrageously tedious, but I don't feel like these videos are authentically ME without those little graphic accessories keeping me company. Maybe it's just my signal to the world that while I'm serious about what I'm doing here, I'm trying not to take myself too seriously while I'm doing it. 😂
That mantra is a keeper for me. But I'm happy to share it. 💜
Podcast, video, you’re a star Meg! Congratulations on your fiction and non-fiction wins! And thank you for sharing your heart with us. It’s so relatable and yeah, let’s keep on hoping and bumping into things. I do think that luck plays a bigger role than we think.
Well this was lovely. I really do like the mantra you found - and also agree with your hesitancy in doing the “mantra thing”, but when it hits you right, it’s right. Someone else on Substack introduced me to Lucille Clifton’s poem “Birth-Day” and her line “Today we are possible” has been IT for me. Good luck in your endeavors, looking forward to following along :)
Thank you, Robin!!! I'm glad you found your mantra, too. It reminds me of another little gem my yoga gal said about changing the word impossible to read "I'm possible." Love it. 💜
Oh boy, that was a pretty wonderful thing to listen to...
💜
And watch...
💜
And think about...

Agree. And yes, the graphics. A talented writer who is also tech savvy.

Wow. So much to unpack here. You are adorable, funny, charming, sensitive… all wrapped in a ball of talent.
What a beautiful writer’s video update. Not to mention your tech skills! How did you layer on all the pics, cute emojis, etc?
Thank you for sharing your mantra story. It was beautiful. It’s amazing how just a few words put together can touch our souls to the core.
Well done, friend. 🥰❤️💕🙏

Thank you, Claudia. 💜🙏🏼
I haven't given up on serendipity. Just have to keep trying anything and everything until feel the bump. 🥰
Where is this transcript of which you speak? I’m too impatient to watch the video.
Just under the viewing screen, there's a button that says "transcript."
Oh Meg - I could watch you cry all day. 😭😂😘 Website looks great, and congrats on the versary!
And the Emmy goes to ... 😭😉
